On arrival in Oslo, we provide you a dedicated transfer to reach your hotel. The port town of Oslo is the capital of Norway Oslo celebrated its 1000 year anniversary in the year 2000. Until 1814, it was known as Christiania after the Danish-Norwegian king. The city is beautifully situated at the head of Oslo Fjord surrounded by forested ridges, and this very location gives Oslo unexpected qualities for a national capital. Start the day long Oslo tour which allows you to see all of Oslo’s main attractions at your own pace and convenience, with the freedom to take a break from your tour at any time to explore a sight further, or maybe go for lunch or shopping. Explore the Royal Palace, the City Hall, the Akershus fortress. Spend some time on the controversial Vigeland Sculpture park.

After breakfast we transfer you to Oslo airport for your flight to Kirkenes. Just 10 kilometres from the Russian border, Kirkenes is one of Europe’s most remote outposts. It has fewer than 10,000 inhabitants-but its airport handles around 100, 000 passengers a year. Mining, saw mills and catering for the Russian fishing fleet all help to keep the vibrant little town alive. Each port on the way south has its own beauty as spring and summer flowers give way to autumn leaves and berries, melting snows form fresh waterfalls and glaciers reflect the rays of the sun.

The memorable sights of the Lofoten Islands will stay with us forever as the ship meanders gently through this stunning network of inlets and isles. It is possible to explore inland here by opting for the overland excursion from Harstad and rejoining the ship in Sortland. Moving on we reach what is the highlight of the voyage for many, where we hope to make a detour into spectacular Trollfjord. As we venture into this dramatic fjord, we stand in awe of the Captain’s prowess and skills of navigation, for the sheer sides of the cliffs seem close enough to touch. Site of a famous battle between local fishermen and wealthy ship owners in 1890, and the echoes of this dramatic history seem to reverberate from Trollfjord’s gnarled rock stone walls. Sailing through the beautiful, mountainous island chains, rising to 1,000 metres in places, we can see fishermen’s cabins built on stilts along the waterfront, whilst in the air around us fly a wide variety of seabirds such as puffins,kittiwakes, cormorants and sea eagles. This remarkable day is completed with an evening return to Svolvaer and a farewell to the islands at Stamsund.

Day 6: Trondheim - Molde - Ålesund

We have an early arrival in the fascinating medieval city of Trondheim. The voyage continues out of the Trondheimsfjord past Hitra Island to make brief calls at Kristiansund and Molde, known as the City of Roses and surrounded by 87 snow-capped mountains, before the midnight call at Ålesund and a last night at sea.

The landscape becomes increasingly lush as the journey weaves through the islets and beautiful Bergen comes into view.  Arrive in Bergen early afternoon and disembark after brunch. Spend some time to discover parallel rows of wooden buildings front the harbor at Bryggen Wharf, the medieval waterfront district in Bergen, the Fish Market and a short ride on floibanen funicular train for a spectacular view of Bergen. Day 8: Train to Oslo and departure

After breakfast take the spectacular train journey to reach Oslo. Relax and enjoy the stunning scenery. On reaching Oslo, we provide you a dedicated transfer to the airport for your onward destination.
