The Pike hides in the reeds and the morning elves dance over the water surface. It is quiet and just the whispering sound of the tips of the pine trees can be heard. With your own charcoal burner hut as base camp, you will discover the fish-rich lakes and babbling streams of Bergslagen during a weekend filled with fishing luck and time together.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest. Skinskatteberg and Malingsbo-kloten are well known for large forests, rich wildlife and lovely fishing waters. Here there are lakes with everything from Pike to Eel and Salmon Trout. From your base hut, you can do day trips and choose between hundreds of clear lakes, quiet tarns and flowing streams. For those one who would rather stay closer to the hut, Lake Skarsjön is just in front of your door. In the evening the sauna is lit by the shore of the lake and you cook a real wilderness dinner together over the fire.

Nature trips in summer are open from May 1 through to October 15 for both individuals and groups.

At arrival

Reserve your accommodation at least one day in advance. You have access to your huts from 1pm (13h) on arrival day up until 12 noon on day of departure. Reception is not always attended but one of our hosts will meet you for a welcoming at around 5pm (17h). Please let us know about your estimated time of arrival.

What to bring

We recommend you bring your own sleeping bag or rent one from us for Euro 5 per stay (to be reserved in advance). Sleeping mats, candles, flame torch and matches are available for your disposal. We also recommend you to bring pillow and weather resistant clothing.

Outdoor food & cooking

There are several fire places, of which one has a view over lake Skarsjön. Cut your own fire wood. Pans and cutlery is available in the storehouse. The nearest supermarket is in Skinnskatteberg just 3 kilometers away. Served food is available at weekends, please book in advance.

Toilet & shower

We have several nice outhouses. We do not have showers but feel free to take a swim in lake Skarsjön or clean yourself in the little steam just nearby.

Electricity and drinking water

During your stay you will use genuine oil lamps for lighting up the dark evenings and a fire stove for heating your hut. We do not have any electricity at all available. Fresh drinking water is available for you to fetch in our beloved forest well, it is regularly tested and government approved as excellent drinking water.

Bringing your dog

Dogs and other pets are also welcome as long as they respect the plants and wild animals and particularly the vulnerable birds.

Cellular phone

Most cellular phones have decent reception, though, we recommend you to switch off your phones while in the forest and enjoy the forest´s natural silence during your stay.

In case of emergency

A First Aid kit is available in the storehouse and our guides have gone through basic First Aid training. The nearest health centre is in Skinnskatteberg, 3 kilometers, a general hospital is in Fagersta, 23 kilometers, and the regional hospital is in Vasterås, 65km.
