SOWETO TOUR

Chris Hani Baragwanath HospitalSoweto, a sprawling metropolis of more than 3.5 million people on the outskirts of Johannesburg, is a multi-cultural composite of South Africa today. Peek into the past - hostels, Freedom Square, the struggle for liberty. Stand on the only road in the world that carries the honour of two recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize. The tour includes a full view of Soweto from the vicinity of Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, visits to African merchants of traditional medicines, a typical four-roomed dwelling and informal settlement, a crèche, an old age home, affluent suburbs and a typical shebeen.

GOLD REEF CITY TOUR

Gold Reef CityDrive South to Gold Reef City for a 3 hour guided tour including a ride on a sightseeing train, small crafts village and a trip down the Gold Mine, to Level 5 (220m/785 ft below the surface). See a 12.5kg gold pour, be entertained by Siyagida African Dancers. Built around an old gold mine, this theme park is a reconstruction of Johannesburg during the Gold rush Era. Included in this tour is a descent down an old gold mineshaft to learn how gold was extracted in the past, witness molten gold poured and watch an exciting display of tribal dancing. Full day or half-day tours are available at the same rate.

PRETORIA CITY TOUR

Voortrekker MonumentBeautiful Pretoria is known as the "Jacaranda City". Visit the Voortrekker Monument, a large granite edifice that incorporates a museum commemorating the Great Trek. Visit Church Square that is surrounded by fine old buildings, including the Old Raadsaal (parliament) and the Palace of Justice. The impressive Union Buildings were designed by Sir Herbert Baker and completed in 1913. Considered by many to be the architect's greatest achievement and South Africa's finest architectural masterpiece, this was the site for the inauguration of Nelson Mandela (10 May 1994) and Thabo Mbeki (16 June 1999 &27 April 2004).

PILANESBERG AND SUN CITY TOUR

Pilanesberg National ParkDepart early to the Pilanesberg National Park for an open vehicle game drive. Try and track down the Big 5 (leopard, lion, rhino, elephant and buffalo) during your 2 1/2-hour game drive. You will then be transferred to Sun City that lies deep in the heart of the bushveld and at the heart of an ancient volcano. Africa's Kingdom of Pleasure comprises four marvellous hotels, all offering the fantastic facilities of this legendary resort. Sun City offers an enormous range of things to do - both indoors and out. DURBAN CITY TOUR
Duration: 3 hours
Durban City TourThis three-hour tour begins with a drive along Durban's Golden Mile continuing to the harbour entrance for a short stop. Travelling along the Victoria Embankment the tour passes the Vasco Da Gama clock, the Dick King statue and the Yacht Club. After passing the sugar terminal and the University of Natal, the tour proceeds through the residential areas of Berea and Morningside to the Botanical Gardens with its splendid orchid house. The last stop on the tour is at the famous Indian Market full of spices and souvenirs. Passing the Post Office and City Hall in the city centre, we return to the hotel.

VALLEY OF A THOUSAND HILLS TOUR

Zulu TraditionsAfter departure from Durban, this three-hour tour travels through the suburbs of Westville and the residential area of Kloof. We stop at the many view sites giving panoramic views of the Valley of 1000 Hills. The breathtaking Valley of a Thousand Hills is an exciting component of Durban and South Africa's province of KwaZulu-Natal - the Kingdom of the Zulu. The tour continues to Phezulu, a small kraal, which includes an informative talk about the Zulu traditions, a display of Zulu Dancing and the opportunity to meet a Sangoma. We visit a crocodile farm and snake park before returning to Durban.

SHAKALAND NANDI EXPERIENCE After being picked up at your hotel you travel through sugar cane fields to Eshowe. FULL DAY CLASSIC CAPE PENINSULA TOUR

Hout BayEnjoy a visit Hout Bay, a colourful and entertaining fishing harbour, a picturesque village filled with arts and crafts. Enough time is allowed to join an optional cruise to Seal Island to view the several thousand Cape Fur Seal's who inhabit this island, during the summer months, along with the rare Black Cormorant birds that lollop among the kelp forests. Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve for the highlight of your tour. Indigenous fauna and flora are conserved in this priceless wilderness area. The scenery en route to Cape Point, at the South Western tip of the reserve, is particularly lovely in spring when wildflowers carpet the landscape. The new lighthouse - the most powerful in the world - beams an electric light of 19 million-candle powers across the ocean. Ascend to the top by Funicular. Malay QuarterThe train arrives at Modder River Station near Kimberley where lunch will be enjoyed at the historic Kimberley Club. Passengers then enjoy a trip on the electric tram from the City centre for a tour of the Big Hole and Diamond Museum. The train departs from Kimberley in the late afternoon and travels onwards to Pretoria.

Mid afternoon High tea is served in the Lounge Car. The Blue Train arrives at Kimberley station late afternoon where guests disembark and assemble at the railway museum from where they will be ushered to the bus, which will be taking them to the centre of Kimberley to join an old tram for a ride down to the mine. That evening the Blue Train departs Kimberley station for Cape Town and dinner is served on the train.

DAY 2 (Blue Train – Cape Town)
Breakfast served in the dinning cart or in-suite at the guests' request. The train arrives in Cape Town mid-day where Butlers usher guests to the Station Lounge. Thank you for joining us on this memorable experience!

THE BLUE TRAIN - CAPE TOWN TO PRETORIA

DAY 1 (Depart Cape Town)

10:00 Register and check-in at Cape Town Station and enjoy pre-departure snacks and drinks. At 10:30 boarding starts Butlers usher guests to their suites. Lunch is served on the train followed Double Decker Buslater in the afternoon by high tea served in the Lounge Car. The Blue Train arrives at Matjiesfontein in the afternoon for a 45 minute off-the-train excursion. On arrival at Matjiesfontein guests can board the tomato-red London double-decker bus for a short trip through the main street. The bus will stop in front of the bar where they are invited for a glass of sherry. The sherry glass with The Blue Train logo on is a memento for them to keep. The Victoria buildings and original nineteenth century London lampposts impart to the traveller, the uncanny sense of entering a colonial time warp an oasis suspended in a different age. Late afternoon guests make their way to The Blue Train and depart for the journey northward to Pretoria. After an exciting interlude guests are welcome to refresh themselves and enjoy pre-dinner drinks at any one of our lounges. First sitting for dinner starts at 7pm.
