Day 1 - Welcome to Ireland
Arrival at Dublin Airport and collection of your pre-booked car hire for immediate departure to Belfast,
Capital of Northern Ireland. Check-in at Dunadry House (4*) or Culloded Hotel (5*).
Day 2 – Belfast to Donegal
Full Irish breakfast. Today you can dedicate your time to the visit of Belfast travelling individually or joining
one of the many sightseeing opportunity such as The Belfast Sightseeing Tour (with English commentary),
the walking guided Safaris (based on different themes) or the Black Cab Tours with driver/guide. Departure
to Donegal down the magnificent scenery of co. Fermanagh. Overnight at the Sand House Hotel (4* Manor
House), overlooking Donegal Bay. If you want to try an Irish place for dinner, you can try to reach the
Smugglers Inn on the top of the cliffs overlooking the bay on the left hand side of Sand House (looking at
the sea), it’s a narrow road and the pub/restaurant is about 1 mile away from Sand House, so drive carefully!
Day 3 – Yeats County and co. Mayo
After breakfast departure to Sligo, we would recommend a diversion to Mullaghmore Head for a scenic view
over the Ocean and a visit to Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery. A pleasant drive is running the coast of
Killala Bay before heading to Castlebar/Ballinrobe and finally to Ashford Castle. A dinner in the George V
Restaurant is a real gourmet experience. Overnight in a room overlooking the lake.
Day 4 – Cong, a place for the Quiet Man
Full Irish breakfast. A full day at disposal to live the castle. In the estate and around Cong village it was shot
the famous movie A Quiet Man starring John Wayne and Moreen O’Hara. Take your time to explore castle
grounds and Cong village or also enjoy a cruise on Lake Corrib. Ashford Castle offers a wide range of
activities like horse riding, falconry school, golf and, of course, state of the art spa and fitness facilities. At
Dungeon Bar you will have a nice drink and life music to end your day.
Day 5 – Galway and Burren
After breakfast departure to Galway City, that certainly deserves a visit before continuing down the coast of
Galway Bay across Burren and Cliffs of Moher. Doolin is a nice place for a break before continuing to
Dromoland Castle. For dinner you have the unique opportunity to attend a medieval banquet in the scenic
Bunratty Castle. The Lord of the Castle and his Lady will welcome you with a cup of Mead, the traditional
wine with honey: they’ll tell you about history and tradition of the region before moving to the Great Hall
for the banquet. Throughout the tasteful 3-course meal inclusive of wine or secret homemade anahalcolic
drinks, the Lord and its court will continue to entertain you with poems, songs and legends. Overnight at
Dromoland Castle.
Day 6 – Killarney National Park
Full Irish breakfast. Departure to Killarney: this journey on the main road will take approximately 2 hours. So
you will arrive just in time for a walk in Muckross House Gardens and lunch that you can have at Molly
Darcy’s Pub in Muckross Park Hotel. Check in at Killarney Park Hotel and rest of the day at disposal to
discover the city and the National Park. Many excursions are available on site like the jaunting car tours or
the Open Boat cruise on the 3 Killarney Lakes and a huge selection of walking itineraries around the National
Park and Gap of Dunloe. Overnight at Killarney Park.
Day 7 – Back to Dublin
Full Irish breakfast. A long drive will expect you today! So departure early in the morning to Mallow and
Cahir. This route will give you the opportunity to visit Cahir Castle, set of the movie Excalibur, and the Rock
of Cashel, beautifully located on the top of a hill overlooking the Golden Vale. Arrival in Dublin and check-in
at The Merrion Hotel.
Day 8 – Goodbye
After breakfast return car at the airport and end of Hibernia Tours Services. |
